Fidelis AT - Frequently Asked Question
Back to Dental laser page How is the Fidelis AT different from the Fidelis? The Fidelis AT represents a logical evolution in the development of this technically advanced dental laser, incorporating a range of new and improved features. A new Super Short Pulse mode means that the fastest laser in hard tissue just got faster! Physically it is smaller than its predecessor and features stylish new white casing and smaller floor footprint. A newly-incorporated on-board compressor eliminates the need for any external air or water supply, making installation and use of the Fidelis AT a simple plug-and-play operation requiring just a single power point. What is Variable Square Pulse? The Fidelis lasers are the only dental lasers with a user-adjustable pulse duration. It is a patented technology called Variable Square Pulse (VSP). There are five different pulse duration options within the VSP system. They include Super Short & Very Short Pulse for fast ablation of hard tissue, Short Pulse for selective removal of caries, Long Pulse for soft tissue ablation and Very Long Pulse for haemostasis in soft tissue. The benefits of Variable Square Pulse provide greater flexibility and superior performance compared to other dental lasers. Why do Fidelis lasers cut faster than other dental lasers? The Super Short Pulse mode of the Fidelis AT is four times shorter than conventional cavity preparation lasers. The high peak pulse of laser energy cuts enamel with unrivalled efficiency. Because the increased ablation has been achieved by decreasing the pulse duration, the amount of energy required is relatively small. What are the benefits of an articulated arm delivery system? Articulated arms are the most efficient way to deliver mid infrared laser energy. These arms are almost maintenance-free and are not consumable items. Other modes of delivery such as fibres and hollow waveguides are fragile and expensive consumable items that are relatively poor conductors of laser energy. The Fidelis III articulated arm system is weightless and self-supporting. It is easy to use and ensures the maximum delivery of laser energy to the dental handpiece. |
